As you play through the songs on pages 57 and 58, notice how the flavor and feel of the songs change when the secondary dominant chords appear in the song. It's usually the best part.
Next week we will play Capital Blues on page 60 - a very fun piece to play. Don't let all the sharps and flats throw you off. It's easier than it looks. Work especially on the Uke II part, which provides a bit more challenge (in terms of fingering) than Uke I.
Play the chords for Capital Blues and see if it is familiar. Yep! It's the 12 bar blues…. again.
We will also play My Bonnie Lies over the Ocean - pg 61, practice picking the melody and practice the chord changes. You mgiht also like to try playing a harmony part as suggested in the book.
We have just two more classes before we break for summer. Next week we will also work on some strumming techniques and variations. And, of course, run through Saints one more time before the BUG Jam on June 7
