Just for fun we played the Sheik of Araby from James Hill's Ukulele JAZZ book.
We then moved on to Barney and Katey, which sounds pretty darn good - seriously.
Continue to practice this for next week and try to get the speed up a bit. This song should be pretty snappy and it is a good challenge to work on speeding it up. Remember to go for efficiency of movement as your fingers do a little dance on this song.
Also - practice Aloha O'e on page 16 - I have not sent a slow version of this song because it is already slow enough on the CD for you to practice. We will also sing this song so you might work on sounding out the words. Use the pronunciation guide in Book 1 (pg 38) and the CD to help you with that.
We also looked at some Notes on the Fretboard from the Hal Leonard Book - UKULELE Fretboard Roadmaps to help us learn the notes on the Fretboard and understand it better. We will be working on learning the notes on the fretboard more during the weeks to come.
We will continue to meet on Wednesday night since there is someone in the class who can't come on Gail
