Last night, after Hornpipe, we talked about the major and minor chords in the key of Bb. We also looked at how we can easily find these chords in each key using the circle of 5ths. Be sure to practice newish chords Gm, Cm and Eb and the exercises on page 15 are a good way to do that.
We played Sweet Betsy from Pike and 'Round Her Neck She Wears A Yellow Ribbon. Both are really good songs for practicing the new chords and picking in the key of Bb (with two flats) .
Next week we will look at the chords in a MINOR KEY, Beginning with the key of Am.
We will also play Slavonic Dance No 2. (in the key of Am with not sharps and flats) Attached is the slow version of this song and an additional high harmony part. This song is also an excellent Chording exercise with lots on interesting chord changes.
