Continue working on Kabak da Boynuma. I would like play it a bit faster next week and with spirt. You will be able to play the 16th notes faster if you use a flat pick. As your book suggest, this song really doesn't have very many notes and should be fairly easy for improvisation. Try playing with the recording and improvising you own melody. You can just try playing around with the notes that are in the song, rearranging them.
Work on learning the notes in Give My Regards to Broadway and on playing the chords. play the chords in first position and then try using the closed shapes we have been learning.
This song is in cut time which is 2/2, or two half notes to the measure. I may have mis-spoken last night and said that 2/4 is cut time. I'm not sure what I said, but Cut time is, in fact, 2/2. You can tell this is cut time because it has a C (like common time, which is 4/4) but with a line through it.
For your amusement, I have attached my (female) version of My Wild Irish Rogue.
