You made it! This (combined) class has the distinction of being the first class with NO drop-outs during the journey through Book 1. You truly are Mighty Ukers. You all stuck it out, you (hopefully) learned something, and now we are ready to show our stuff. You probably didn't imagine that you would be performing at this stage.
This SATURDAY AT the BUG Jam. The Jam starts at 2:00 and we will probably play after the break, around 4:00. While I am gone, the best way for you to not forget all that you have learned in these 12 is to review Book 1. And the best way to do that is with other people, at a regular time. If at all possible, set up a practice group with others in the class. Most people do better with structure and a teacher and so, to that end, Evelyn Kimbrough is willing to do a Book 1 review class for you. She can work with any size group and she will be contacting you by email to give you details. However, I believe that she will start on about Jan 6 and go for 6 weeks. The 12 week Book 2 class will begin on Feb 17 and will be a combined class. Since there will probably not be enough people to have 2 classes, the combined class will meet at 5:00 on Tuesdays and will cost the same as Book 1 ($150.00) plus materials. Since I will be gone until 1 week before the class starts, I think it will work better for you to order materials directly Piper Music in Bellingham or from Empire Music (online). The cost is the same except there are some shipping charges with Empire Music, which can be reduced if you combine orders with other people. Book 2 is Red and I strongly recommend purchasing the CD as well. Because some of you asked, the 12 bar blues pattern is below. |
